Fertility-Friendly Exercises and Yoga Poses

Fertility-Friendly Exercises and Yoga Poses

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is one of the best ways to improve fertility chances. As we all know, eating well and regular exercise are two key components of a healthy lifestyle. Although there is not a definitive exercise that has been proven to improve fertility, fertility-friendly exercises reduce stress, improve circulation, increase flexibility, and balance hormones, all of which undoubtedly have a positive effect on fertility and overall health.

Some Fertility-Friendly Exercises:

  • Flexibility Exercises - help to stretch muscles and increase flexibility in the hip area
  • Restorative Exercises - help to ease tension, relax the body, and reduce stress
  • Stimulating Exercises - help to improve circulation pathways to the reproductive organs.

Other fertility-friendly exercises include walking, swimming, dancing, and bicycling. The practice of yoga, especially because of its mind-body connection premise, has become increasingly popular over the last several years. When the mind and body co-exist in harmony, the health benefits can be significant and far-reaching. Yoga has been shown to increase endorphins, improve heart health, build endurance, support fertility, and so much more.

Some Fertility-Supporting Yoga Poses:

  • Standing Forward Bend (Hastapadasana)
  • Child's Pose (Balasana)
  • Butterfly Pose (Baddha Konasana)
  • Legs Up the Wall Pose (Viparita Karani)
  • Bridge Pose (Setu Bandha Sarvangasana)
  • Supported Shoulder Stand (Salamba Sarvangasana)

Simply staying active can go a long way. Staying active and quieting the mind may take you even farther in the quest for pregnancy and parenthood.
